Great buy,

It took me about 3 weeks of research to finally come to a decision of which laptop to buy next.There are tons of laptops now a days that come with great features and cores that cost around half of what this laptop cost, BUT this laptop is DOUBLE what those are. Pros: - Amazing display, 1080p anti glare - Fantastic sound, especially with the subwoofer included. - nice kayboard. They somehow managed to give everything space even with the number pad on the side. - Super fast - From hibernation turns on instantly - Im digging windows 7 - The touchpad has a nice texture and responds well to single, but the multitouch still needs improvement, though the two finger scroll isnt so bad. Cons: - I dont find the webcam to be great. Id give it average. - The mouse clip is loud. - Power apter is MEGA HUGE - The power pug system really needs a new design, pc should cut the bull and follow in mac's foot steps for this... Read more

Asus really hit the sweet spot with this laptop and I am extremely pleased with the combination of features that strike a balance with the 15.6" form factor as well as a beautiful screen. They raised the bar a little in my book with the Bangen & Olufsen speakers + subwoofer combo that really puts out fantastic sound. The GT555m can do even better with just some slight overclocking but the computer itself performs remarkable and it has the specs I want to play just about any game on the market while not being a heavy 17" monster or a 15" oven. I really love the Instant-On feature for saving power when it is in a sleep state but coming right out of it within a few seconds. Windows 7 pre-loaded, there is some slight bloatware such as TrendMicro anti-virus, a few Microsoft inclusions, and a suite of small ASUS utilities that may or may not be useful to you. Some of them are good for monitoring the computer but may not be necessary to always be running if you like a clean look like myself...

Pros: Best performance, very affordable price, amazing soundCons: Hair Other thoughts: no windows installation DVD I received this computer two days ago, and it shows an amazing performance. It plays full hd movies over wireless with no problem, and the sound quality is superb. However, I had a very unpleasant experience with this computer. I bought this computer as a new product. I saw no other trace of previous use from this computer, except for a hair that crawled out of the keyboard. It was bright colored, which matches none of my family member, and which I have never seen in my life. As I said, there was no other trace of previous use---no finger print, no dust, nothing. Just that hair. And it looks more like body hair. I don't know how it got into the computer. The computer is made in china---where people's hair color is black, so I guess the hair is from the US. This is my first ASUS purchase, so I don't know whether ASUS products usually grow... Read more |
